I am beyond excited to launch Swallowtail Editorial Services. (how cute is my new logo??)
This business is the result of my love for teaching, coaching, researching, and writing. This is my offering to the writers of the world who want support as they navigate the choppy waters of creation.
I am starting my business with a focus on academic and nonfiction writing, as someone with credentials in both areas. But that being said, I am a firm believer in the creative potential of both academic and commercial nonfiction writing. We are creating something from nothing, and that’s creative — full stop.
I chose to use swallows as my logo and business name for a couple of reasons: one being that swallows are indigenous to pretty much every part of the world – they travel everywhere, and are at home everywhere.
Reason number two is that according to nautical mythology, sailors in ye olden days knew they were close to land when swallows started to gather around the ship.
There’s some nice symbolism there, isn’t there? Swallows guiding sailors to shore after a long journey? I hope that’s what you will find here: guidance, assurance, and a map.
