Over the past couple of years Iโ€™ve had quite a few folks ask me for help revising academic CVs for industry job applications. I was always happy to do it. I love working on resumes/cover letters, and have missed them since leaving UChicagoGRAD, where I interned for two years during my PhD.

The post I quoted above (which was posted this past Friday) is what spurred me into action. Iโ€™ve been thinking about ~officially~ offering career services for a while, and itโ€™s not right that people are feeling scammed when academia is such a dumpster fire and the job market is so unforgiving.

And so… I am very pleased to announce that ๐ˆ ๐š๐ฆ ๐จ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ž ๐š๐ง๐ ๐œ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐ฅ๐ž๐ญ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฏ๐ข๐ž๐ฐ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ซ๐ฏ๐ข๐œ๐ž๐ฌ, ๐š๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐š๐ฌ 30-๐ฆ๐ข๐ง๐ฎ๐ญ๐ž ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ for academics transitioning into industry.

My priority is to give you actionable, concise feedback. No fluff, no packages, just super fast and super practical. So many of us have no training in how to write up a resume, and think that simply copy-pasting our CV into a resume template will do the trick. That isnโ€™t going to work, unfortunately. Hiring managers only spend about 30 seconds on our resumes, if that. Theyโ€™re not going to read a full CV.

Our challenge is to condense what we know we can do into language that is culturally legible to someone outside of academia.

My offerings are tailored to be fast, affordable, and high-quality. I donโ€™t think most people need ongoing coaching to get the information they need. If you want ongoing coaching, obviously, have at it! But most of us donโ€™t have the kind of money required to hire a really good career coach at this stage in our lives, even though this is the time when that knowledge and support is most helpful.

This is a new service, so I am offering them for super, super discounted rates until the end of March. 1, 2026, so if you or someone you know could use a resume review or a get-me-out strategy session, I invite you to jump on it!
